All notes carry the face of "Chinggis" Khan or Sukhbaatar on them and because of their age can often look alike. The exchange rate is constantly changing.

Mongolia is situated in the centre of the continent of Asia Central (between Russia and China) and covers an area of 603, 899 sq. miles (1.566.510km², about three times the size of France), making it the 18th largest country in the World. Mongolia lies between 87°44'E and 119°56'E Longitude and between 41° 35'-44'N and 52°09'N Latitude in the North of Central Asia.

Khalkh Mongol is the official Mongolia language (is a member of the Ural-Altaic family of languages, which includes Finnish, Turkish, Kazak, Uzbek and Korean). Since 1944, the Russian Cyrillic alphabet has been used to write Mongolian. Kazak is spoken by 5% of the population. There are also many Mongolian dialects. The most spoken foreign languages are English, Russian, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

Danger:

Mongolia is a safe place to be. As a visitor you are unlikely to experience any serious problems. However, like anywhere else there are a few things that visitors should be aware of, things that will need extra care and attention.

Transport:

Transport to or from Mongolia is usually by air: Mongolian airlines, Turkish Airlines, Aeroflot, Air China, Korean Air or by train:  on Trans-Mongolian Railway. Travel Season:

The travel season begins in mid-May . July and August are the peaks tourist season. September is autumn. The Mongolia pick season is on July during Naadam Festival in July 11-July 13.

What is a Ger?:

This is a traditional tent of Mongolian nomads. Gers are round, with a hole in the center for ventilation. It is made of a wooden lattice covered with wool felt, and can be taken down and moved quite easily. The word Ger literally translated from the Mongolian language simply means "home of Mongolia´s nomadic families". The Ger is a symbol of Mongolia.
